Financial transparency? are we cooked?

hi. it looks like otd is in dire straits.

the main treasury is basically drained and it looks like our main treasury is now selling DOG for USDC to fund ops? there has been zero transparency around whats happening day to day, all we know is otd is suing cocoro on eth (which is good) but costs us money to do.

will we ever get any kind of finances update? there haven’t been any full DAO votes in ages, no info on whats happening or how much team is getting paid, i guess all the moderators got fired.

what is going on?

Good morning,

I’m so sorry I didn’t see this earlier. We do most of the discussion in Discord and TG these days but that’s not a reason to neglect the forums. We certainly aren’t trying to avoid any questions.

We have done a couple of OTC deal recently but that is not how the project will be funded moving forward and buyers still hold every token (they’ve both been DOG whales for a very long time). We are committed to not selling DOG into the market.

Market conditions have squeezed just about every project in the space, and we certainly are not immune to that. However, I think we are positioned well for the future. There is currently a snapshot vote up about funds, and you can vote on that here New snapshot vote for LP funds - Own The Doge.

That being said we still have other avenues to fund the project. The best of these (imho) is the $cocoro LP. We split these fees 50/50 with Atsuko and this has helped fund her charity (please check out her Instagram for some pictures because its wonderful). Upcoming activations with Metamask, DogeOS (!!) and we’re lining up sponsors for Doge Day which will happen this year as it does every year.

A more detailed financial report is in the works (including a slick dashboard) and should be ready in the next couple of weeks, but we didn’t want to leave you hanging without a response. Can always find me in the Own the Doge Discord, on twitter and tg @ultronmkii

Thank you

ultron

I appreciate the response, but it doesnt answer my questions at all and is concerning as a holder.

A big part of the reason we voted in this new DIC was team pay and burn. We don’t know how much the team is paid. Why is that not public? I’m sure wallets can be traced and all but this is a decentralized organization supposedly.

what is the “ongoing funding” needed for rather than redeploying? Who is getting paid from it if mods are no longer paid, and how much? The lack of transparency is extremely concerning and causes a significant loss of trust in any leadership. Are leaders still being paid $100,000+ salaries while also selling DOG into our liquidity?

didn’t we already have a finances dashboard? Is this now dead or false? OTD Financial Dashboard

Hello @pixelcrew, good morning, great to meet you.

We currently have 6 paid moderators contributing at Own The Doge.
Regarding the use of funds for operational costs: this was put to a community vote and approved unanimously.

You can review the proposal and results here:

On the broader questions around team pay and ongoing funding:

The operational budget has been significantly reduced, cut to roughly one-third of previous levels.
When I moved from COO to CEO, I took no pay raise. In fact, in 2026, I took a significant pay decrease to help retain our team of global contributors and extend runway during the bear market.

Ongoing funding covers the remaining core operational needs required to keep the project running (moderation, community coordination, partnerships, DIC council, IP stewardship work with Atsuko, technical maintenance, and related costs). We are not paying former moderators who are no longer contributing.

We recognize that transparency builds trust, as we have held a weekly space for almost five years where we give significant updates on the project and I post multiple weekly announcements to keep the community up to date.

Last week we announced a month long Rewards Campaign in MetaMask wallet. This is significant for the education and growth of our project and something that we are very proud of.
Wallet activity is publicly viewable onchain, and we continue working to improve how financial information is surfaced for holders. The financial dashboard is viewable at the Own The Doge subdomain numbers, is showing live on my end, and we plan to improve upon this dashboard further in the coming months.

For context on the strength of the project’s financial foundation, we maintain substantial locked liquidity that is above and beyond most projects in the industry.

You can review the details here:

All holders are are welcome and encouraged to participate in any Snapshot vote we hold.
That is one of the clearest ways to use your $DOG to make your voice heard on the direction of the project.

We will also be revamping our proposal process for a more modern look and feel with token gating and more.

I am happy to jump on a call if that would be helpful to discuss any of this further.

-Smoke

This is vague, why is the team unable to say:

  • What the costs were before
  • What they are now after reduction
  • What you, and other team members are paid going back to the election?
  • Has team been actively selling their DOG?

Isn’t a DAO supposed to be transparent? I have participated in numerous, and every single question about team pay has been open because all team pay had to go through voted proposals, but this is the only one where nobody can get a straight answer and there was never a process where we approved your pay?
