Some of this is borrowed and built on from @SaladPingers 2023 proposal, with some modifications. We can further assess and change things as we go, but needed to put ink to paper for the hotels.
LOGLINE
Remember how great Doge Day 2023 was? Everything came together perfect in such a short amount of time, thanks to the hard work of Saladpingers and the full team.
This time - let’s have a little more breathing room and time to plan, and make it bigger than before.
THE VISION
Make Doge Day 2024 the biggest Doge event we can put together, generating massive media buzz around the world, with special guests, world class entertainment, and even a Guinness World Record!
HOW
The main event on November 2nd will be open to the public for free. We want everyone to come from far and wide.
VIP TICKET PACKAGE
This will be a BYO flight deal, where 20+ VIP guests pay $1669 (early bird) $1942.0 (regular price) each for three nights accommodation (Party in Tokyo on HALLOWEEN!), transport, meals, a Limited Doge Swag Bag, exclusive VIP Networking Event and VIP treatment on Doge Day.
LOCAL KOLs
We will invite special guests from Japan to attend on the day. These KOLs are VIPs but will not be a part of the VIP program that we plan to sell tickets for, but rather, will be invited so that they can promote the event to their audiences and discuss things with ours. We’re looking for web3 projects, local influencers, content makers, and youtubers, to have the maximum impact.
SAKURA CITY
We are in current talks with Sakura City once again. OTD has built relationships with the Mayor of Sakura City, especially with the help of our translator Yohei, to continue to make events that the City is proud to be involved in. The City has committed this time around to offering staff and support for the event, more than in 2023.
COINPOST
We will also seek sponsorship from Japanese web3 orgs such as Coinpost, who we have an ongoing relationship with. We have identified a number of potential sponsors. In return for their financial support, we will promote them on all marketing collateral for Doge Day in the lead up, and as part of the infrastructure we hire/build on Nov 2nd. The deals made will be on a case by case basis. CoinPost was a sponsor in-kind last year, but this year as a proven event we will be seeking additional from them.
CONTENT
We will work with sponsors and partners to build an exciting itinerary for Doge Day, and confirm media coverage for the day, Ellio will help out with drafting a deliverable list so everyone from within the team is aware of what to do, when to release a specific piece, etc.
NFT DROP
We will create an NFT drop to commemorate the event, with free/cheaper mints available for connected communities such as OTD, NFD (see FINANCES, below) and other potential sponsors.

URGENCY
We need to push this to a vote immediately so that we can fund the hotel deposit. That is the most urgent as Tokyo tourism is reaching an all-time high, and hotels are struggling to keep up with demand.
FINANCES
We are asking the DAOge for $20k up front to cover part of this project, with an option for a second $20k later if needed. Our expenditure will exceed this, however to secure certain commitments we do need to act earlier, namely hotel and potentially GWR. Of note - for 2023, the National Day Calendar group was not part of the Doge Day proposal and finances. It was totally separate. I am including GWR in this one for a more accurate picture.
To confirm additional sponsors, we are working on a pitch deck with Elliothereum, and will offer commissions to those who bring us paid sponsors (10%).
The NFT that we create for this event will have royalties going to OTD and the artist who creates it. We will figure out with the NFT sponsor chain their level of involvement.
It is hard to know at this stage how large the expenditure and revenue will end up being. Expenditure will be on event logistics (stage, tech, performers, food, personnel, etc) and will be determined after discussions with Sakura City Council. Revenue will come from OTD, NFD, other sponsors, ticket sales. If ticket sales are lower, we can reduce certain expenses (airfare, bus, etc). We anticipate expenses will be higher than last year due to the event having a larger scale, however revenues are also expected to be significantly higher. This budget has been padded on the expenses a bit to ensure that we have room and expectations are set.
Revenue and any profit will go first to OTD, repaying the 20-35k grant.

This is a large budget, with some items over allocated for safety. John is experienced at managing budgets of a much larger scale as well. As long as we can secure additional sponsors, we are confident we can pull this off. If sponsors are hard to confirm, we can reduce the scope in certain areas. This is as detailed a breakdown as we can provide right now, and we need to start work immediately, building relationships and disseminating a Pitch Deck to potential sponsors/partners.

Febuary 2024:
Lock in hotel rooms
- As soon as this proposal is approved and first payment is received, we can engage Yohei to start our conversations with Sakura City Council, Atsuko, and Takenaka to confirm the scale of the event and also potential sponsorship/in-kind support.
- We will work with Elliotherium to create a Pitch Deck for sponsors and build a list of targets. Then we will approach them one-on-one, leveraging OTD networks where necessary. As part of this stage, we will produce a hype video, used for selling tickets and pitching to sponsors.
- Begin marketing for sponsors and partners through social media
March 2024 - July 2024
- Build and pitch target VIPs to confirm their interest in buying a ticket
- Begin ticket sales online in March/April
- Seek to confirm additional sponsorship/funding/in-kind support
- Secure events. This includes dinners, VIP parties, etc.
