New DAO Constitution - Open Discussion

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently talked in other threads and chats about formalizing a constitution for the DAO. This is needed to make sure all members, current and future, have an understanding of what to expect from the DAO, and what may be needed from them.

The general aims are:

  • Assure holders of their rights and control over the treasury and the operations of the DAO.
  • Minimal restrictions for internal and day-to-day activities of the DIC, so they can complete work efficiently. We do not want them bogged down with frequent and slow governance decisions that prevent execution.
  • A bulletproof multisignature arrangement that is resistant to sophisticated attacks, whether they be social, governance or technical. The security of the treasury is paramount and it is vital that this can weather even internal conflicts.
  • Respect for Atsuko and the memory of Kabosu.
  • Create a structure that is antifragile, stands the test of time and easily facilitates the alignment of all involved parties.

This topic is not for the proposal of the attached document, but instead it serves as a draft that everyone is invited to comment on. We are aiming to build a community wide understanding of what people feel the DAO should be about.

This draft is based on a previous work from former and current members of the DIC. It is linked below:

Yes, I remember working on some of this long ago and always wondered what happened to it. I had a random thought about what the protocol is for multisigs if one had to resign or otherwise (illness, death). [It’s not a popular topic, but one I constantly think about due to nature of the tech and how I could ensure my only beneficiary would receive my assets.]

Maybe this part could be clarified…" If a multisigner is removed, they must be immediately replaced in the same transactions by another multisigner. "

Thank you Path!
What’s the best way to make comments? The doc requires edit access for comments…

Cheers!

Hey Dundo, I’ve opened the document up to comments from anyone now. Sorry about that!

Please feel free to leave any feedback in this thread too.

Very much in support of what you laid out, Path. Think you covered all potential threat vectors while still empowering the DIC et al. I think you mentioned some of this has been on paper from the past so a big thank you to ALL who contributed.

Also, wonderful to see the relationship and communication(s) with Atsuko formalized and protected. Everyone has done such an amazing job with her and has set such a high standard. Amazing to see and be part of.

Thanks,
Dres

Really well written and I am a big fan of the governance section.
Both the written and visual representation of IP source to OTD is easy to grasp and drives home the point that Atsuko is the starting and ending point.

Hello
is it OK to contribute and write collaboration proposals in the developer ecosystem to empower the community and develop intellectual property with DC ?

up for vote now: Snapshot

Current working link for vote: Snapshot

A great next step for the community! Will be there a special DIC application form or people are free to use their own?

I’ll come up with a structure for everyone before the election
